The project “Sorgente” (source), in Boario Terme (BS), is the concept for the new Ferrarelle S.p.A. headquarters. It consists in the refurbishment of an existing building, subject to a Monuments and Fine Arts constraint, and the realization of a new building, replacing the existing one with the offices, to be demolished.

The position is very central, closed to the historical park of Terme di Boario and it is at the head of water bottling and storage factories: water is a valuable good and an important economical source of the city, capital of Valle Camonica. The name comes both from the prompt reference to water and from the ex cinema “Sorgente” (designed by Arch. Montiglio, one of the best disciples of Italian rationalism and Marcello Piacentini) which was an important social and cultural place.

The new building and the restyling of the one to safeguard define a courtyard (open towards south/east) housing parking with a green ground in order to avoid heat-island effect. The offices are conceived with a light metal structure and a continuous roof, covering both the existing and the new building, becoming a sort of sunshading umbrella, protecting living places and facades from summer radiation. Towards the courtyard it defines a wide covered space protecting facades and allowing the use of exterior space even with rain. Materials and colors evoke the dynamism and lightness of Ferrarelle brand  and of water, health and renovation symbol.

The outer shells are well calibrated to offer energy saving both in summer and winter.
